Buying a Used Car

Before getting your own car, it pays to do some homework. Think about what you need, what the car will be used for, and your budget. Look in books and online and think about repair costs, safety tests, mileage etc.

All this research can save you some serious money and help you avoid being ripped off.

Once youve chosen the car you want, you have to decide how you are going to pay for it. You can pay the whole amount upfront or you can finance the purchase over time. If you do use financing, you should be aware that this increases the total cost of the car as you must pay for the car plus the credit.

Once you have decided on how much you can put down, you can look at the annual percentage rate (APR) of the loan and the length of the loan and see how much your monthly payments will be.

Generally speaking, the shorter the term of the loan, the higher the APR. If you are in your teens, cosigning with your parents will help you to get a better rate. You may also want to think about paying in cash for a less expensive car.

Dealer or Private Sale?

This is an important decision to make. If you buy from a dealer you will generally pay more. But you will benefit from knowing that if there is a problem you can return to the dealer to complain. Many dealers offer warranties and guarantee the quality of the car.

On the other hand, buying from an individual will offer less security as the car will generally be sold as is, which means you must bare the cost of any problems that later arise. You also cannot go back and complain to an individual if something they told you turns out to be untrue. That said, buying from an individual can often offer very good value.

First of all, they will not add a mark up on the price, which is what a dealer would do if he had bought it first. Also, if you bring along your own mechanic, or someone who knows about cars, you can have it checked out to make sure everything looks ok.

Before you buy the car, make sure you examine it with an inspection checklist. Get a good test drive over varied road conditions and be sure to get the cars maintenance record. It is also worth having the car inspected by a mechanic if you have serious concerns about it.

Finally, before you buy, make sure you are ready to meet all the associated costs of having the car. These include insurance, fuel, maintenance and repairs.

Buick: Giving the Brand Meaning

During the 1980s, Buick was a brand that successfully straddled the fine line between luxury and performance. This GM division sold big, fluffy Park Avenues and LeSabres, while also selling the luxury/sport Riviera and the Regal. It was this last model, the Regal, which stunned the automotive world by winning Grand National awards during the early 1980s. Today, all four models have been terminated in favor of newer names including the Lucerne, LaCrosse, Terrazza, Rainier, and Rendezvous, models that didnt even exist five years ago. Where is Buick headed? Will GMs troubles finally kill off the brand? Will the Buick name ever regain meaning? A lot is riding on these questions; the answers may not be as simple to utter or imagine.

GMs woes could spell Buicks demise. At least that is the thought with some experts who believe that at least two brands need to be pruned from the GM line up to save the automaker. General Motors, for their part, has said that they will stick with all of their brands; instead, the company is using this crucial time to put into place a long and painful process to remake its entire image. With plant closings, layoffs, and big losses racking up, the worlds #1 automaker cannot afford a misstep, so whatever plans the automaker has for the company must be executed flawlessly, otherwise further trouble will ensue.

Buick and Pontiac have often been cited as the two divisions being the most at risk. Neither division has a clear identity with every model built by the brands similar to models built by other GM makes. This hasnt escaped the notice of critics who have called on GM to begin dissolving the two divisions immediately.

If GMs words hold true, then Buick will stay around. In what particular form is the question, but the general has been giving us some hints in the form of the present model line up as well as at least one future model planned.

Currently, the Lucerne is being heavily marketed as it takes over the flagship role from the Park Avenue a model along with the LeSabre the Lucerne has replaced. Based on the Cadillac DTS, the car combines luxury with value to offer motorists a taste of Cadillac lavishness at a discount. Therein is the rub: is Buick underselling Cadillac or is the Lucerne simply perceived as being all that different from its up market sibling? That is hard to determine. Regardless, the Lucerne is bit more refined and less dowdy than the models it replaces. It isnt likely to captivate young folks, but probably will be more than able to keep current owners satisfied.

The LaCrosse has been well received and it, too, has replaced two Buick models when it was rolled last year: the Century and the Regal. Still, the car is based on older GM technology and competes only marginally with new models from Lexus and Toyota. Fresh styling has helped and will keep Buick faithful happy at least for the time being, but the LaCrosse hasnt won over many competitors either.

Buicks three remaining models are all variations on current GM SUV and minivan themes. There is nothing original about these models other than the Buick badge and a higher level of standard equipment than lets say, the Pontiac Aztek. Oh, yeah, the Rendezvous twin, the Aztek, was axed by GMtoo ugly!

So, there you have it: five models pared down from almost ten that were offered just a few years ago. None are completely new and none have a distinctly Buick touch to them, making Buick look as if it will, indeed, get whacked.

But that isnt what GM is saying.

Instead, we know that GM is already planning one new Buick model which, again, may replace two current models [does anyone see a theme here?] The model being planned is an all new crossover vehicle tentatively called the Enclave an AWD crossover vehicle capable of carrying six passengers over its three rows. Yes, the vehicle sounds strangely similar to the Chrysler Pacifica and it appears that the Pacifica is in Buicks crosshairs with this proposed model. Little is known about the Enclave other than that it will likely be powered by GMs new 3.6L V6, an engine lauded by car critics.

Beyond the Enclave, Buick will have to bring out newer models to replace the Lucerne and LaCrosse soon after the Enclaves anticipated 2009 model year release. Buicks chief competitors are regularly updating their platforms and an aged Lucerne or LaCrosse can only exacerbate the divisions problems. None of this will occur without significant investment by GM and a cash strapped company cannot afford to build new models.

Basic Strategies On Winning At Live Dealer Baccarat

Live dealer baccarat is not hard to play and has one of the highest payouts of all casino table games. Baccarat is one of the simplest ones to understand. It is in fact a simple game and the following winning strategies will help you play baccarat and win!

Nine is the magic number.

Think Nine in Live Baccarat. The first thing you want to do is create a hand with a total of nine in only two or three cards. Eight is ok, but nine is the goal on the total cards in your hand. The perfect hand would be a hand that has only two cards with the value of the two combined being nine. The second best hand in live baccarat is this same set up but with the value being eight. These two hands are referred to as natural nine or natural eight. Heres the fun part, when one player has one of these natural hands then none of the other players may draw a third card. Thats fun isnt it? This even includes the banker. The player with the natural eight or natural nine wins the hand immediately. If no other player has a natural eight or natural nine then the players decide to continue the game by continue betting or folding their hand. If there is a tie between two players then the game is voided and nobody wins.
Know your card point values.

How do you get to a natural 8 or natural 9? First you need to know your baccarat point face card values. You cant win at baccarat if you dont know the points of each card. This is incredibly important to learn because you can lose quickly by making simple calculating mistakes. if you dont know what points apply to the cards. Here are the values of the cards. Aces are one point, cards from jack to king are zero points, and all other cards have their face value points.

What happens if you go over 10? Well, its important to know as well that if your hand totals more than 10 you simply ignore the first digit to get your point values. So, if your hand totals 18 the score is 8. A natural nine would be only a two card combination 5 + 4, 6 + 3, 7 + 2, and so on and so forth.

Know how and when to bet.

If you really want to win at Live Baccarat you will know how to lose as well. Dont ever bet on ties or standoffs. Also, if there is a trend then bet with the trend until the trend breaks. Betting against a trend rarely results in winning and when you bet. However, with the trend you can make a lot of money over the long run. Another tip is to always have enough money on hand and be sure to stay in the game long enough to pick up on a run or play long enough to go through your play through bonus requirements at your casino of choice. You need to know how to manage your money (Bank Roll Management) if you are going to play live baccarat successfully.

Get practice with free sites.

Learning how to play is important especially if you want to win big. So, consider playing baccarat online at the casinos that offer free baccarat. You can practice with fake money until you get your technique down. You will also pick up some tips and skills to playing baccarat along the way simply from playing. Baccarat is the favorite game of many and for good reason. Its fun and relatively easy to play. Just make sure you are prepared to plan when you hit the real tables and be ready to earn some cash!

Avoiding Distractions While On The Road

Driving is an activity that needs not only the proper skills but it also needs the driver to have ultimate and great concentration on the road. Being focused on the activity itself gives the driver and its passengers greater chances of not meeting any kind of mishap, collision, crash, or accident.

Even experienced drivers still meet accidents when they become careless when driving. Try to take your eyes off the road for just a couple of seconds. Doing such greatly increases your chances of meeting a disaster. That is why automobile experts and drivers suggest that the best thing to do would be to avoid distractions at all costs. By avoiding them, you are also keeping yourself safe along with your passengers, other motorists, and pedestrians.

Try not to eat in the car. You see, when you are eating while driving, you tend to fumble around for the food. You could drop it or even try to drive using just one hand. Doing these things actually could be the cause of a major problem.

Avoid fiddling around with your cars controls. It could be your radio, your cars heaters, the air conditioner, or its mirrors. Experts suggest that if you would like to change the status of these controls, it would be better if you pulled over first and do the adjustments once you are safe on the side of the road. When everything has already been adjusted as per your preference, then would be the time to go back on the road. You may be wasting some minutes while doing so but remember that you are keeping yourself alive by doing that.

Cellular phones should not be used while driving. If you want to place a call, pull over first. That way, you can concentrate on dialing the right numbers and listening well on the conversation.

Bugs and Cars: No Match There

For those of us living in the southern US states, the proliferation of the insect population is a recognizable part of southern living. Evidence of the huge bug population is manifest on vehicles across the southland in warmer months, particularly on the hood, in and against the grille, and right on the windshield. Fortunately, two products have been developed that can effectively combat the resultant bug splatter: car bras and bug deflectors. Are they good choices for your car? They can be! Please read on to learn more.

Car bras Also called hood protectors, car bras provide maximum protection for the front end of virtually any vehicle on the road. Custom sized for each vehicle, car bras slip over the front end, covering the grill and the front part of the hood. There are some car bras that extend further up the hood almost to the windshield too. Some car bras are two part sections that allow for motorists to gain access to the hood without removing the bra, while others are one piece units that must be removed before popping the hood. In all cases, bugs are deflected from the grille and from at least part of the hood with a car bra.

Bug deflectors Also called bug shields, bug deflectors work primarily to protect your hood and windshield from bug juice. In addition, some bug deflectors can deflect other small objects including stones kicked up from the road which can crack your windshield. A bug deflector is installed at the top section of your grille at the point where the grille meets the front part of your vehicles hood. Like car bras, bug deflectors are sized for the particular make/model you own, although there are some models that can be custom cut by consumers too. A strong double adhesive tape typically fastens the deflector in place, therefore no drilling is involved.

Typically, motorists install one or the other product on their vehicles and not both as a bug deflector must adhere to the car itself and not to part of the bra. Still, some bras have a lip installed that sits across the hood of your vehicle, acting as a mini bug deflector of sorts.

So, next time you make a trip through Americas southland or if you are a road warrior wanting year round protection for your vehicles front end, a bug deflector of car bra can be something that does the trick. Oh, by the way: both products look really cool too!

Automotive Marketing… The 3 Mistakes Everyone Makes Marketing To Car

Automotive Marketing… The 3 Mistakes Everyone Makes Marketing To Car Dealers

When trying to sell a car dealer your products or services most sales are lost because of these 3 reasons.

The main reason that your sales are not where they should be is because most dealers never receive your message. Unless you are a huge company with an advertising budget in the millions most dealership owners and general managers will never see your message. Car Dealers are constantly bombarded with everything from window decals to water filtration systems and averages state that your prospect will have to see your message at least 7 times before they will have a favorable opinion about your products and services. How many times are your dealers seeing your message?

Another important point that happens in most campaigns is the message is too long. You must have copy that gets right to the point. If your message is 7 pages long and requires the prospect to spend 15 minutes reading it chances are they wont. Take a look at the length and see what points you really need to make. Most marketing and sales agents make the mistake of tyring to sell the prospect with their copy and adding in every little feature and benefit about their product. Instead offer a teaser approach and get them to contact you for additional information. This will allow you to focus on hot prospects while testing your marketing message.

The final reason that most campaign fail is not using enough marketing mediums to contact your prospect. We all know that an appointment with the decision maker offers the best opportunity to sell your product or service, but in the automotive marketing world we all know that is next to impossible. With the phone being the next best followed by direct mail and internet marketing. You must make an effort to use every form to reach your dealers. How many are you currently using?

If you incorporate these ideas into your current sales and marketing campaigns your sales and profits will explode and If you need the most exclusive automotive direct mail and marketing list with complete contact information on 21,545 Auto Dealers for only $297 visit: http://www.AutoDealerList.com

Before You Get A Used Car Loan – Read This

Before You Get A Used Car Loan – Read This

Let the Internet be your guide when buying a used car. The information you can find online is valuable and just a few clicks away from your fingertips. You can find out what a used car of any make or model might be worth if you were trading it in, selling it yourself, or buying it from another private owner or car lot.

Before you take out a car loan, go online to see what the used car you want to buy is really worth. Besides the fact that you dont want to pay too much for the automobile, you also dont want to take out a bigger car loan than is necessary.

“Trade-in value” is explained as, “What consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in vehicle,” and “private party value” is explained as, “what a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party.” But when it comes to “suggested retail value” KBB switches gears and defines it as, “representative of dealers’ asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer.” – advertisement -

Now, be careful. You have to check more than one source, because the web has many websites that have their own opinion about used cars and about car loans. Depending on the website, the values for some cars can vary by more than a thousand dollars for what seems like the same type of car in the same condition.

Most free websites that say they can help you find out the worth of a used car or that claim to help you get an auto loan, usually have a close relationship with auto dealers and car loan companies that support their website through advertising or other means. That relationship with their supporters can make the information less reliable.

Two popular websites for information about used car values are Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds. They are the most reliable sources Ive found for information about the value of a used car. For information about car loans, go to allaboutcarloans.com after you know how much you will need to borrow for that dream car you just researched.

First, lets determine what the car you want to buy is worth. There are a lot of things that go into a used car’s value, including regional differences, supply and demand and what’s happening in the new car market. Run through the calculator on Edmunds, and see what the result is for the car you want to buy. Then check the same car at Kelley Blue Book. Youll likely see two different values for the automobile you checked.

Why? Each of the two websites have a different means of calculating the value of automobiles. The prices that are calculated at the websites also use different sources for information about used cars. It seems that Edmunds.com uses a little forecasting to determine actual value of a used car, while kbb.com or Kelley Blue Book gives you a suggested retail price as a guide for car dealers.

Newer cars are easier for these websites to compare and youll find less differences in the price comparisons. The older the car is, the more likely they will be different estimates. None of these estimates should be taken as 100% accurate, but using both of these sources will help you define a range.

So what do I do? First remember, no two used cars are alike and no two auto loans are alike.
Also, it should be noted that using the higher estimated value when applying for your auto loan and using the lower estimated value to negotiate the purchase of your vehicle can be a plus. When you go to allaboutcarloans.com make sure you look for topics that will help you in determining the best places to apply for your auto loan and use the higher estimated value when applying.
